Free Mental Health First Aid training

There are 64 funded places available to ESCC maintained school and college staff. This training is useful in demystifying common mental health conditions and providing strategies for responding effectively.

The post-16 Education Improvement Partnerships (EIP) is delighted to have received funding to deliver mental health first aid training to mental health leads and others in East Sussex maintained schools and colleges. We’ll be delivering two 2-day Mental Health First Aider courses and two 1-day Mental Health First Aid Champion courses locally by the end of term 6 in 2019.

Mental Health First Aid training usually costs £100 for the 1 day champion course and £200 for the 2 day first aider course.

16 free places will be available on each course. Priority will be given to schools and colleges where mental health leads have not received any training, and to those who’ve been attending MHEW workshops. The training is suitable for staff working with children and young people aged 8 to 18 years old.

If you are interested in attending please let Fenella Tallon know, indicating preferred weeks in terms 5 and 6, and location and whether you are a mental health lead. Courses will then be arranged according to preferred timings and venues from 9am to 5pm.

If your setting’s mental health lead has already been trained and you have other staff interested in attending training, please get in touch.

Contact as soon as possible.
