Veolia and Shred Station

Please see details below of the new waste and recycling contract and additional information of confidential waste collection which will replace the courier service.

I am writing to you to update you on the mobilisation of the waste and recycling contract. East Sussex County Council has now awarded this contract to  Veolia for a period of three years from 1St April 2019 until 31st March 2022, with the option of a further two year extension.

The revised prices following a competitive procurement process for the new contract with Veolia are:

Existing Suez Oct

Veolia April 2019

General Waste - per lift

1100 litre

660 litre

360 litre

240 litre

Recycling -  per lift

1100 litre (Cans, paper, cardboard and plastics co-mingled)

660 litre (Cans, paper, cardboard and plastics co-mingled)

360 litre (Cans, paper, cardboard and plastics co-mingled)

240 litre (Cans, paper, cardboard and plastics co-mingled)

240 Food Waste

The contract has seen an increase in waste disposal costs, this is due to the existing contract not having an uplift applied since October 2015 and therefore this was to be expected. However, there has been a reduction in the collection charge for Dry Mixed Recycling (DMR). Therefore, there should be a real financial incentive alongside the environmental  benefit for schools to recycling as much as possible.

Veolia are now commencing the mobilisation of the contract. Please can you confirm if you do not wish to participate in the new contract by Friday 22nd February 2019 to  .  If we do not hear back from you we will assume that you wish to participate in the next contract.

To on-board all schools and academies into the contract Veolia need to complete a Risk Assessment of each school that is participating in the contract. This will allow them to identify any risks that collections may pose and put in appropriate control measures. These Risk Assessments will be completed by Donna Doray, Veolia Account Manager
