Model Safer Recruitment Policy for Schools and Updated Keeping Children Safe in Education statutory guidance

A Model Safer Recruitment Policy for Schools which sets out the process to enable schools to ensure the safe recruitment of staff, as the first step to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is available on Webshop for Governing Boards to adopt.

DfE has published a further amended version of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE) on 19th September 2018 (previously published on 1st September 2018).

This policy can be adapted to suit the individual needs of a school and once adopted should be published to staff and either provided to potential candidates for vacancies in schools, or published on the school website.

Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE) – September 2018

DfE has published a further amended version of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE) on 19th September 2018 (previously published on 1st September 2018) with the following updates:

Updated document 'Keeping children safe in education: for schools and colleges'. Paragraph 132 - new link to The Childcare (Disqualification) and Childcare (Early Years Provision Free of Charge) (Extended Entitlement) (Amendment) Regulations 2018. Paragraphs 158 and 159 updated to clarify the point at which a school must make a referral to DBS. Updated document 'Keeping children safe in education: for school and college staff (part 1)'. Flowchart titled 'Actions where there is a concern about a child' updated to make it more accessible.
