2018 -19 Early Years Foundation Stage Profile statutory assessment arrangements

The EYFS profile arrangements remain statutory for the year 2018 -2019.

This article describes the continuing assessment and moderation requirements for all schools.

East Sussex County Council (ESCC) will continue to support Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFSP) moderation activities and moderate 25% of schools as required by the STA this year.

EYFSP data will need to be submitted to ESCC by 28th June 2019 in order for the local authority to complete its statutory obligations to quality assure the data.

Full details of EYFSP moderation are included in the ESCC EYFSP Moderation Plan (found here).

The EYFSP handbook states that any arrangements that lie outside the scope of the handbook must be communicated as non-statutory; a local agreement should be set up and agreed between schools and the local authority. The local authority is seeking a local agreement (found here) with schools again this year. Schools will be asked to sign and return the local agreement when they receive notification of their moderation visit.

Data will be requested from schools throughout 2018 – 2019:

  • EYFS targets at the end of Term 1
  • In year data collection in Term 3
  • EYFSP data submission 28th June 2019

Schools need to ensure they have an effective system of assessment to enable accurate assessment and submission of profile data that will then feed into Year 1.
