Virtual Schoolbag (VSB)
Dates: Tuesday 25th September 2018
Venue: Training Centre, 1st Floor, St Mary’s House, Eastbourne, BN21 3UU
IT10: £100 or 2 SIMS Credits
IT11/IT12: £110 or 2 SIMS Credits
Time: 9.30 – 12.30 or 13.30 – 16.30
This is a half day workshop using schools’ own SIMS data and is targeted at staff with responsibility for the School Census and who have previously carried out the School Census routine. All Schools need to submit a School Census to the DfE, three times a year (October, January and May) using SIMS.
This course uses your schools own live data; we remotely access (via CentraStage) your own school server and work on your schools live data, which removes the need to repeat the work back at school.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Understand the current requirements for data collection in this round
- Create the Census return, and run the ‘create and validate’ routine
- Maintain and prepare relevant data areas in SIMS
- Address and correct the errors generated
- Run the Detail and Summary reports
- Understand how to upload a return to COLLECT
Course Preparation for IT11 or IT12 schools only:
Please inform your ICT Technician of the date and session you are booked on to ensure your exclusive use of your schools Server on the day. We will contact you/them to test CentraStage access approximately a week prior to the course. Delegates will take full responsibility for changes made to their own data during the course.
A good working knowledge of the student database is required in order to resolve issues reported by the census routine. Schools are advised to send the appropriate person(s).
