Virtual Schoolbag (VSB)
The Standards and Learning Effectiveness Service (SLES) at ESCC are providing funded training, including four days of supply cover, for the development of mathematics and English leaders to enable them to effectively lead improvements beyond their own school
The training will include the development of key leadership skills and subject specific training to ensure the leaders are confident in their subject knowledge when supporting others.
During the programme participants are required to undertake up to two days of support in other schools where they can learn from practical experience and personalised coaching. This will be arranged through negotiation with headteachers but please note that supply cover for this aspect is not funded and schools will be required to make this contribution.
This is a fantastic professional development opportunity for those who wish to grow as leaders and is well placed within the current climate as we move towards a school led system. It will also make a significant contribution to strengthening middle leadership within your school.
The course begins on Monday 15th January, with further sessions scheduled for 26 February, 26 March and 21 May.
Up to thirty places are available. The criteria for selection include:
- A proven track record of improving Mathematics or English across own school or in a particular phase.
- Confidence in delivering in-house training or in other schools.
- Evidence of a willingness to support others within their own school and beyond.
- Good interpersonal skills – an ability to build relationships and show empathy.
- A positive outlook and can do attitude!
Applicants are required to send a paragraph outlining how they meet the criteria, experience and the reason for applying to Danielle.Cassell@eastsussex.gov.uk by Friday 15th December 2017. Once finalised, full course details will be published in the VSB however expressions of interest are welcomed at this stage.
